Carra: Arsenal have more than enough to manage Merino absence

Icon

Your Site' Jamie Carragher:

"I dont think they need midfield options but Arteta obviously thinks he does.

"The squad is absolutely huge at Arsenal in all areas of the pitch. I suppose if you are so close to the title and you have the opportunity to bring another body in to make up for Merinos injury, you do it.

"If you lost it now because you felt like you lost something in midfield that would be really daft, but I think theyve got more than enough."

Carra: Liverpool are future-proofing their defence

Your Site' Jamie Carragher:

"Jacquet is a similar profile to Konate. Can cover big spaces. Pace, Liverpool will play with a high line.

"It looks like Liverpool are really future-proofing the centre-back area because Konate looks like hes going to move on.

"Also, the age of Virgil van Dijk. Let's not forget, next summer, hell be off the back of the World Cup.

"The young centre-back they bought in the summer, Leoni, will be coming back from an ACL.

"Liverpool will sign this lad in the summer but I think Liverpool will go and sign another big centre-back.

"Who Id say will replace Konate, alongside Virgil van Dijk and this new guy, will be the backup to those players."

Former Manchester United defender Brandon Williams has left Hull City by mutual consent.

"Liverpool don't have to get the deal for Jeremy Jacquet done by the 7pm deadline. This is ultimately a deal that will go through when the summer window opens.

"What he has been doing this afternoon is undergoing a medical before finalising that deal."
